River Oaks Golf Plantation has been a favorite amongst local and visiting golfers since it’s opening in 1987. It is located in Myrtle Beach and is known as the fun course to play around the area. There are 27 holes at River Oaks that were designed to challenge golfers yet are still playable to all levels. All three 9 holes were named after wildlife that was found on the course when it was first opened. They are the Fox Nine, the Otter Nine, and the Bear Nine. In 2007, they started extensive renovations that ended in 2010. Under these renovations, 4000 trees were taken out to improve growing conditions, airflow, and sunlight.
If you are looking for a fun layout that will still pose a challenge, look no farther than River Oaks. It was carved out of an 800-acre Pine Forest creating a peaceful round of golf with an abundance of wildlife. Gene Hamm and Tom Jackson designed the course to include its natural terrain as its defense. Water hazards and bunkers were put in to make players think about course management. River Oaks Plantation was the first course in the area to have Ultra Dwarf Champion Bermuda Greens.
They are well known for their consistent conditions and great pricing. They are one of the best values on the Grand Strand. Make sure to arrive early and take advantage of their public driving range and practice area. The patio is a great spot to grab a bite to eat and have a cold drink while taking in the serene surroundings. River Oaks Plantation strives to make your round of golf a great one with their friendly staff and fun layout. If you are looking for an addition to your package whether on a budget or not, keep them in mind.
