Central courses on the Grand Strand are becoming more and more in demand. Each one of these beauties are filled with fun, challenge and unique character.

Central courses along the Grand Strand are very easy to get to. The following five golf courses offer beauty and challenge. The Grand Strand is a lovely sixty mile stretch of coastline along North and South Carolina. It features over one hundred great golf courses.

Visitors to the Grand Strand can also look forward to a nice choice of lodging, dining and entertainment. In our last blog, we spoke about golf course in the south region. In this article we talk about five of our fabulous, central courses.

Glen Dornoch central coursesGlen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links: Glen Dornoch is well known for its beautiful waterway views. However, it is also known for its difficult finishing holes. These holes are among some of the toughest along the grand strand.             Glen Dornoch appeals to all golfers because of its testing layout. The 9th and 18th holes are unique because they share the same green. After your round pull up a chair and enjoy a cold beverage or snack on the clubhouse deck. If you’ve never played Glen Dornoch, then it is certainly time. This is just one of  our central courses that has stunning waterway views.

Heather Glen central coursesHeather Glen Golf Links: Heather Glen is next in our central courses lineup. This is a very unique 27 hole facility. The 19th century style clubhouse flows beautifully onto the golf course. Heather Glen is an award winning Scottish Links style golf course. The natural terrain is beautiful and is complimented by a backdrop of ancient old Oaks, magnificent Pines and freshwater ponds. Winding streams add to its beauty. Each nine holes are named. The are The Red Course, The White Course, and The Blue Course and they each have their own characteristics. Any combination of holes that you play at Heather Glen will be thoroughly enjoyed.

Possum Trot central coursesPossum Trot Golf Club: Possum Trot is one of those central courses that will appeal to golfers. So, please don’t worry about your skill level! Each hole has its own unique and sometimes silly name. Take a look at these examples “Oh No”, “T’aint Easy”, and “Analysis is Paralysis”. Big hitters are going to love the wide open fairways at this golf course. Along with a great layout, Possum Trot also has a world-class golf academy. It also has one of the top 3 practice facilities in the Myrtle Beach area. With humorous named holes and inviting fairways, Possum Trot should definitely be on everyones play list.

Tidewater central coursesTidewater Golf Club: This is a layout that will rival most. It runs alongside the Intracoastal Waterway and the Cherry Grove Inlet. Tidewater even has a distant view of the Atlantic Ocean. Play it and you will see some of the most scenic and remarkable views in all of golf. Tidewater is also one of the most awarded of our central courses. Tidewater is easily one of the best maintained golf courses on the Grand Strand. Players need to be accurate off the tee and with their approach shots. Be warned, every golfer that plays Tidewater falls in love with it. It is often warmly referred to as the “Pebble Beach of the east”.

The Valley central coursesThe Valley at Eastport: The Valley recently reopened under new management. It is in great condition and once you play it, you will agree. This Valley is a Par 70 that plays to about 6,200 yards. This may seem short but it will challenge any golfer. It is also one of those central courses that focuses on course management. Accuracy off the tee is more important than distance. Players need to be careful of their well placed water hazards and bunkers. The Valley will provide all golfers with a fun and challenging round of golf. Their MiniVerde greens have subtle slopes and are in great condition. Accurate approach shots are rewarded with easier putts.
